Sarah Palin!

McCain has picked the governor of Alaska as his running mate. Sarah Palin is an interesting choice because it is designed to pick off women who think that Obama ran a sexist campaign. She's also got a reputation as a reformer and a whistleblower, which is exciting.

Then again...

This pick is immediately drawing comparisons to Quayle. She's in lock-step with GOP ideology and spent a couple terms as mayor of a 6,400 person town before becoming governor, a position she's held for two years. She also added this to a discussion of the vice-presidency, “As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?"

With McCain's age being a serious issue, this might bite him in the booty (yes, I used the technical term booty).

KOOK-ALERT UPDATE:

I just found this:

The volatile issue of teaching creation science in public schools popped up in the Alaska governor's race this week when Republican Sarah Palin said she thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms. Palin was answering a question from the moderator near the conclusion of Wednesday night's televised debate on KAKM Channel 7 when she said, 'Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both.'

I think perhaps you mean "kook." I am okay with having a "cook" in the White House.
